im not sure if this question is for this section of the forum or not, i'll delete it if its not just let me know. but i have a 72 skylark custom 2 door hard top and the person that had the car before me covered the hole or studs for the vinyl top. so my question is what am i gonna have to do to reinstall the crome trim so i can put a vinyl top back on. i like the look of the vinyl top. are there studs or screws that place the trim on the body?

there are small "T" shaped studs that may have been spotwelded from the inside of the panel, along each side of the car below the quarter window and also below the rear window. black or blue plastic pieces (mounts) about 1/2" long, 3/16" thick and slightly wider than the stainless trim, are slid over the "T"s. there are also two bolted clips , one at each end of the stainless vinyl trim, that attaches below the rear window with palm nuts.
the corner pieces are attached to the body with palm nuts.
the stainless trim mounts/snaps over the plastic mounts

ANY BODY REPAIR SUPPLIER SELLS THE STUDS TOO IN POP RIVET FORM. . BRING YOUR MOULDING AND THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE KIND YOU NEED.I WOULD TRUST THESE BEFORE THE SCREW IN TYPE. YOUR CORNER MOULDING HAVE STUDS ON THEM LAY IN THE TRUNK AND SEE IF YOU CAN FIND THE HOLES.
