Is there any product that i can get to dye my brown vinyl top black? It is in such great condition that i would hate to peel it off just to change the color.
SEM makes a great dye for vinyl tops. Make sure top is clean and free of vinyl top dressing, proper prep gives you a great job. Google SEM and you will find a source. tom
Chris, can I ask why you want to change the color? Just don't see combo's like that too often. I'm assuming the color on the car is cortez gold. Did the car come from the factory with that combo?
yes, I am the 2nd owner, the original owner had metal flake and 14 coats of clear sprayed on over the cortez gold. i am doing a gsx clone with electric blue main color and the stripes will be the color it is now
Chris, is your top original? if so which dirrection does the seam on the front pillar post face? Up so it would catch water or down?
yec, it is original. the bottom is stiched over the top part so it will collect the water.....i never noticed that before......them dirty bast**ds
Chris, thanks for that info. That is wat I have seen on most original tops I have seen. no idea why they did it that way but I need to try and have it duplicated.
Its a 70s thing, our trailer that was built in 72 is like that. The front half is bigger and slopes down towards the back. And the folds/seams in the aluminum roof do similar and collect water, insted of it skipping right over. Pure genius
