...overheat problem - GONE. There's 100m of burned rubber out back to prove it! Water temp bounces from 180-190, oil temp runs 220-230 ...and it was 28*C outside! Oil pressures are still kinda low - 9lbs at 800RPM, 14 lbs at 1000, 34lbs at 2k, but otherwise it's fine. It was the Radiator. Copper 4 core triple pass rad was about 50% capacity of an Aluminum Griffin 1.25 tube unit. ...now for the track...
...I sure hope the pressure's OK Adam, we'll find out soon enough! Sleeperes usually aren't much to look at but here's a few pics of the car, and the rad that finally put her back on the road. The brown hood is being replaced this weekend by a proper green one and that "temp" aircleaner is also going away soon
DUDE!!! WHERE YA BEEN????? Glad to hear from you. I thought you had given up. Congrats on getting your wagon back in action. Ramin
Ramin! Hows the Regal doin? ...I damn near DID give up! I seriously considered crushing the  car into a cube and making it a coffee table! This radiator was a last-ditch effort, but it did the trick. Launches are straight, no bogging. the top end needs a bit of help but I think that's due to the POS air cleaner. Gotta pipe some cold air up there again. ...now if the damn rain lets up I'll take her to the track and rip some times off.
Wow! That aircleaner is a restriction, no doubt. That's one healthy installation! How ya gonna fit the valvecover next to the heater blower? BTW, I've found that there if you need more cooling you could add a slim flex-fan (cheap parts-store replacement) - even with no shroud, it will really boost the airflow of your electric fans. -Bob C. p.s. what's up Ramin! Long time no see.
This is a good tip for the Regal 455 builders. If you look closely in that picture I've carved up the heater box to add 1/2" clearance. Cutting back just past the blower motor horn is the best way to do it. ...and of course using the 75/76 valve covers will buy you an extra 1/2" clearance. Hey Kerry! Yep, the rear end worked perfectly! if I overfill it i get a slight leak off the right side, but otherwise not a single flaw! Launches actually feel more solid now. :TU: 13.2 was the previous best with the an old 71 455 ported and tweaked. This should best it... :3gears:
Hey fellas! Yes, been away from the board since about Sept. '07 I think; All's well, just been busy. The Regal got a nitrous set-up late summer '07, but I haven't even filled the bottle yet. It'll make its debut June 21 at Wild Bill's Bunker Hill race.
Hey Rob! I ran into a 455 Wagon identical to yous this weekend here at one of the classic car auctions. I might be back over there in July again, this time I'm buying the beers and 2L of Coke for the NL crew! Of course If work doesn't assign me there then it means I'm spending some time on :3gears: :3gears: Much appreciated! Nice to see another Buick in the area :TU:
Clint, let me know if/when you're crossing the pond... so I can search for some US car meetings here during your stay. One of the Buicks is available for you. Here's an agenda: http://www.v8meetings.nl/?p=p_2&sName=agenda-2008 :beers2: &
...sweet. My design for the plants goes live in a couple months. I'm sure they'll manage to screw it up and need me back there again!
