Dear V-8 Buick followers of the saga of da' trusty wagon,

So sorry that this story drags on and on, but I'm afraid . . . . I have a lot of balls in the air these days [IMG]

Long time followers of this story will know I've revisited the radiator problem more than one over the past year. After a lot of soul-searching, I've decided I need to get a radiator worthy of the JW masterpiece engine that going into the wagon. Therefore, I've given into the temptation of getting an Alumitech radiator. But, but, but . . . . what do I want?

    This should be simple, but . . . .

Way back on June 10, Mike Pesarchick wrote:

So tell me Mike (and all you experts) isn't this Alumitech radiator exactly what I want?

Alumitech even makes that 90˚ turn on the inlet. If I order this radiator, does that mean I could get OEM reproduction hoses that fit perfectly between my big-block Buick engine this radiator?

On Firday, I spoke to I believe Donald Kyte at Alumitech and he said I need to get the core dimensions before I can order the radiator. So today, I did the best I could to measure those dimensions off of the existing radiator on da' trusty wagon. Here is what I came up with:

So, given what I've got, what you do you'all recommend? I was hoping I could take Mike Pesarchick advice, tell Alumitech what I need is a 67 GS Radiator and then send the pictures I've attached here as a sanity check. Does everything seem reasonable to do you Buick gurus or is something wrong here?

Your expertise is very much needed here!! :Smarty:

Thanks again for all your help!! :TU:

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

P.S. As much as it may seem that all the advice I've gotten just flows by like a river, I really do pay careful attention to all of it. That's how I found Mike Pesarchick comment in a thread I started on June 9th, 2012!!! So thanks gang, it all really helps!! [IMG]

Go here http://www.chevellecooling.com/ , Don sometimes has a discount for ordering online. Or you can call and talk to them, good guy IMO. And he will make your radiator any way you want it, and size hose nipples, any shape hose nipples, any way you want it.

at least you have a cross flow in there already, i had to convert to one. i would measure like you have then take a look to see if there is any other holes in the bottom of the support to mount a longer one. these cars don't have a ton of room for radiators like the 68 and up so usually they have to be thicker. i ended up with a griffin unit that seems to keep my 455 cool. i am currently switching over to an electric fan set up so next summer will tell.

Ordering it this morning (Re: Alumitech radiator for da' trusty wagon)

Dear Mike, Paul, and V-8 Buick cooling system experts,

Thanks for you advice. I did a little more digging and confirmed that the 1967 GS 400 would have had the same basic engine compartment setup as my wagon and the (then new) Buick big-block engine. So that radiator should fit without any modification and hopefully reproductions of period radiator hoses would also work. Given how nice my JW masterpiece engine turned out, if I can make the engine bay look cleaner without a lot of sacrifice - I prefer that.

I'm making one last pass of V-8 Buick and then I'll order this puppy!!

    Cheers, Edouard :beer
