John, here's an appraisal for the car we talked about. PM me your email for some more pics. As I said, the coolant system puked and I'm willing to let it go for about $20K as is.

Latest is that my nephew wants it but he can't really afford it in my opinion, and has no garage. I need to get rid of it to someone who will keep it up.

Thanks. It looks real nice. I am still looking. A litttle more than I want to spend.

In case you haven't done your research on how many of these cars were made, here are some numbers:

    1970 4spd Convertible: GS350 -0; GS455 - 126; GS Stg1 - 67. Total = 193
    1971 4spd Convertible: GS350 - 51; GS455 - 18; GS Stg1 - 9. Total = 78
    1972 4spd Convertible: GS350 - 39; GS455 - 12; GS Stg1 - 15. Total = 66

That's a total of 337 4spd GS convertibles cars manufactured in the three years.

As for 3spd manual shift cars (mine was said to originally be a 71 3spd column shift GS350 upgraded to a GS455 4spd) production on them was:

    1970 3spd Convertible (floor): GS455 - 18; GS Stg1 - 1. Total = 19
    1971 3spd Convertible (column): GS350 - 6
    1972 3spd Convertible (column): GS350 - 5

That's 30 more. So in total, 367 GS manual shift convertibles made from 1970 - 1972. About 120 per year. Just for context, during the same time, 3,727 manual shift GS350, GS455, GS Stg1, and GSX hardtops were produced. That's a ten to one ratio.

Good luck in your quest. You're looking for a car that barely exists if you want a real GS Convertible manual shift car.

And he is looking to buy on a very limited budget:

"Looking just for a nice decent 70-72 GS Convertible driver. Don't need any numbers matching, just real GS. Want to shift gears with top down Have around $10K to spend."

I am sure we lost a few along the way. That number of 337 is more like 167 today.

We have one of the 72's, a Cascade Blue/blk. top/white interior and boot cover, non a/c, 3.08 non posi, no tach, no tilt,14x6 chrome rallye wheels, and 59K original miles, about half original paint.

Are you offering it for sale? Be specific, if so. Mine came with a 3.08 peg but upgraded it to a 3.42 posi. It's interesting how many of these cars are still around (or not). When's the last time you had yours out for over a 25 mile drive?

Not actually offering it for sale, but if somebody came up with an $18-$20K offer we would certainly take it under consideration. Haven't had it out for a drive for well over 9 years, but maybe next year I will.
