Looking for the long auto console shift indicator plate ("P R N D L") for 65-67 Skylark & GS. No cracks please! Thanks
I think you are referring to the plastic slider piece. I am looking for the pot metal plate that holds the plastic slider. :TU:
Dan...while the 65-67 pot metal piece is the same, the shifter indicator PRNDLL is different for the 67 models as it sports a 3 speed setup... I assume you have the correct indicator plate.. and you just need the housing? Wheelz, Tampa Bay
3 speed auto was an option in '67, no? Either way, I would prefer the indicator as well, but at this point, I'll take anything :TU:
Dan..I have various parts/pieces of auto & manual consoles..I DONT HOWEVER,...know for sure IF I have a complete console or not... I have a storage facility an hour or so north of me filled with 65-72 interior stuffs...consoles/columns/seats/door panels etc... I used to know what I had in inventory over the almost 40 years of restoring & parting out cars..., but I've long since used a lot of parts for various project/resto cars, SO, what I'm saying is...I MAY have to make a trip up to my unit to go thru it all and actually see what I have... IF you're not in a terrible hurry..? ..? :Brow: Maybe in the next few weeks... ray: I just dunno...I'm not as ambitious these days I guess... I'll keep ya posted. :bglasses: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
O'gersch-dernit anyhow! I have been searching and searching and searching uzzled: ...it doesnt make any sense but I found I have TWO decent 65-67 auto consoles (1- smooth finish and 1- leatherette finish) and can only locate ONE shifter indicator plate...AAAARRRGGH  ...Jeeze, I'm in the same boat as you Dan. ou: double aaaarrrggh! Wheelz, Tampa bay
Dan, Don't forget I have a couple of consoles coming........... that I'm parting out. One of them has that plate 4 sure! They rest of the parts will be on ebay once I get them as long as they are not all broken. Brian
Gary.... I made a "slider" quite a few years ago....used .050 black ABS, layed it out, drilled it with a 9/16 hole then cut it to size with a hot knife... I sanded the edges and VOILA! I think it cost me about $25 for a small sheet of ABS.... CANT SAY FOR SURE BUT. . . .I MAY STILL have pieces of that black ABS..want me to take a look? o No: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Dan, The console I got did not come with the indicator itself but I do have the chrome panel. So no PRNDL item. Here is a pic or two. Has some pits but no terrible. brian
Hi Gary and anyone else....I found a few bitz'n pieces of black ABS, but I'm sorry to say NONE are large enuf to make 65-67 shifter SLIDER piece. I've contacted my local 'plastics supplier' and looked into buying another sheet, (about $37). My time to lay out, cut, drill and trim enuf to fabricate 5 reproduction pieces will take about 4 hours, start to finish. I am willing to sell them for about $26 each which will justa bout cover my materials/time/labor. I cant afford to make just one, so I am posting this here to see if others would be interested. Tell me what you think. :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
I have bought the plastic part from Ames Perfomance and painted it black with that black spray paint for plastic. It is called Fusion or something like that. I had to trim the piece with a razor blade as it is a little to think and is grey in color.
