There was a nice gold one, sold at Barrett-Jackson for US$ 137,500 at the beginning of this year. This matching-numbers 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport is powered by a rebuilt 425ci V8 engine mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission with a 3.42 posi-traction rear end. The engine features dual-quad carburetors, aluminum valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. Rides on heavy-duty 1-inch lowering suspension. The deluxe interior is equipped with additional features that include 4-note horns, cruise control, an AM/FM radio, Buick floor mats, a tilt steering column, power windows, power vent windows, air conditioning, quick-ratio steering, a vacuum trunk release, rear-window defrost, a Buick trunk mat and a rear-seat center armrest. The exterior features a rechromed front, bumpers, valance and other parts; working clamshell headlights; an Autotronic headlight dimmer and Gran Sport badging. It also has a purse clip, polished stainless-steel trim throughout, ribbed rocker molding, Soft Ray factory-tinted glass, California Black Plates and a complete spare tire with a jack and rear speaker. This car retains its original engine and was born with an LX-code, VIN-matching engine and an original BS-coded switch pitch SP400 transmission.
