Randy, Did you check out the car that collector's brother has, the car on craiglist in PA or the yellow clone on E-Bay. Mark
I know of this guy here in inland empire who has a 70 gs gsx clone, he was telling me, when he got the car, on his way home the original 455 he had in there spun a bearing or something like that, took it off and put a replacement 455 same year i beleive, he had a racing tranny from kenne bell i beleive built as well as the rear end beefed up, car is very solid i saw it in person and it is in very good conditions still looks stock, he painted the gsx stripes by hand in the 80's the color is kind of a burgundy/magenta color, this is a very nice car, it has vynil top, looks very good, he just had it under shed for about 10 years now i was told, i even said if he would sell it, and said yes maybe for 10 grand.. i was amazed to bad i did not have the money at the spot.. this is a gsx clone tirbute car, and looks very good, i just dont have pics of it, but if anyone is intersted i might be able to let this guy know someone is interested, this is were i got most of the parts from, he was getting rid of everything, he also mentioned to me that it had the same vin number as a gsx but the color was wrong, he purchased it from an old lady back in the 80's down in the hemet area. well that is just about what i know or was told..
Thanks Mark, I have seen this car looks nice but its a small block. I have a couple of cars that i'm interested in one is a GTO that have been on Powerblock TV and also made the front cover of a couple of magazines and the other is a 70 GSX. Thanks for the lead.
Randy Interested in a 71 GSX clone? Not sure yet if I even want to sell - I live in Rogers, MN. Engine: the engine was bored 30 or 40 thousands has notched hyperateautic ten to one pistons all rods and rotating assembly was balanced, the crank was also cut and trued 10/10 under. It has a taperformance cam and lifters TA510 and mild port work was done to the heads and intake block was decked 20 thousands and the heads were cut thirty thousands if I recall correctly. Has just under 6000 miles on it probably It has a TA performance dual plane intake, a holley 850, with MSD6A with a 5500 rpm rev limiter. Car has full lenght chrome headers w/ 40 series flowmasters & 3" dual exhaust (all the way back). Has R-134 A/C Trans: the trans (350) was gone thru with all new seals and clutches with a perf shift kit and the factory stall conv was spun to flash at approx 2800 to 3200 heat depending. Car was qtr'd & repainted correct Saturn yellow w/ correct GSX stripping. All new chrome, stainless. Interior is new (less headliner). Overall - I would say the car is a very strong driver, it looked good at Car Craft Nationals (St.Paul) - but it is not a national show car.
Randy, PM'd you. Mark and myself have a couple of options. Have 4 camaros right now too. 2 69's ( one is a true SS) and 2- 70 1/2 split bumper cars. Also have 2 BB 70 GS cars which can be cloned (one already is).
