The T400 tranny pans... according to my local Portland Transmission Warehouse guys are the same but... its a 70 or 71.
He's pretty much correct if we're talking TH400. The oddball out is the earlier ST400. Filter design changes over the years mean different pan stampings...they may have the same bolt patterns, but are most certainly different, and not necessarily interchangeable because of this. The fact that you narrowed down the year you need does help a lot. Devon
There are also some cosmetic differences among the different years too. My ‘69 is smooth (only has the dimples) while my ‘72 has the Hydra-matic script embossed like the photo below:
Well if you are not in a hurry I have the one I took off my '72 Electra. Only thing is I'm between houses and it's in a box somewhere and I don't know how long it would take to find
I'm in Massachusetts. I'll take a look tonight at what I have at the rental but it's likely in a container in my in-laws basement. I'll be over there at the weekend and will look then if I don't find it before. Bob
There were just two TH 400 pans for the Buicks - '64-'67 3 dimples and '67-'72 2 dimples. May have been others in the later years, but, this is the info I have from parts manual.
Early pans, '65-'67, had a small "sump" that went under the pick up area of the filter. Early filter was sheetmetal with a scoop of sorts at the bottom. Later ones are flat, sometimes referred to as a "pancake" filter.
Eric - I have one off my 70 stage 1 car - pm me and we can talk - I have no idea about price and shipping - Byron
