Don't laugh. I love those little cars! The engine was one of the best that Toyota EVER built. I have looked around with no luck. If you see one, let me know. It has to be: Rust free 2 door Original Manual or auto is OK If you are looking to slam my desire, save it. If you can help, please do. :beer
I found THIS one in Hawaii. ou: Might THIS be one? o No: Or THIS one. But other than those, nothing. Only as far back as 89'. But I'll keep looking for you. :TU: Derek, Is that like the 22-R engine in the pickups that is reliable and wont die? o No:
Thanks for looking Rob. However, none of those will work. It's out there though! The 22-R is a good reliable engine for sure. The only thing that really goes wrong with them that can be major is timing chain wear/failure. Have a tech check it first before buying one. Again, I would prefer a Toyota tech do the checking, or replacement if needed. Several horror stories with timing chains!
Crank oil seals seem to go also......on the 22R Not going to be easy finding a rust free one esp the rear deck.....
Repost........ Co-worker up here has a nice 82 SR5. 108Km (63,000 miles). I think his wife bought it new. Slight rust on one rear 1/4 and I think one front fender. He keeps his vehicles NICE. Not really wanting to sell but money talks.
Derek244, find your Toyota? Hey Derek, Did you find your Toyota Tercel yet? If not I have, just click HERE. It's a 1981 with 68,000 miles. Its within 5 miles from me if you want me to check it out. :Brow: BTW, that has a cool rear window.
Rob, thanks man. I think the GS has taken priority right now. I think the Turdcel is onthe back burner. That Starlet is cool, but 4500.00? No thanks. They are very rare now, and are used as drag racing cars out on the west coast.
Let me know when you start looking again, I've been looking for a vehicle since August 04' so looking for a car for somebody isn't a big deal.
