I think I figured out the issue im having with a tilt column im rebuilding. Looks like the ignition switch actuator rod is wrong for whatever reason. I bought a dirt cheap "parts column" but its too nice to part out. I'm looking for a rod that is 11 3/4" long. This is for a 69-72 style column.
I don’t have an extra(yet),but maybe this will help the search. The shortest one is 69-72 GM A-body,and that is what he is looking for. 73-77 A-body and 70’s Camaro/Firebird should also be the same length. It needs to be a tilt. The green one is 69 full-size,and the middle one is 70 fullsize.
If there is enough length to cut the existing stem off and have enough stem after you bend it,you could do it. It needs to be 1” like that to engage up in the switch good.
I guess I have nothing to lose. I wound up buying a 71 column shift tilt yesterday for $100 off Craigslist. So I have the actuator from that as a template.
