Wanting an OEM or even aftermarket decklid for a 70 Buick or GSX.I am looking for a very nice shape decklid for my GSX project. Not interested in one that has rust or dent issues,or any emblem holes. The closer to central Pa the better.May be willing to drive and pick up if within reasonable range...
Yes, the '68-'72 is the same trunk lid as well as the '70-'72 Monte Carlo. Most Chevelles except for some of the low trim level versions like the 300, will have a Chevelle emblem on the trunk. The Monte Carlo will not have an emblem on the trunk lid because the emblem was on the vertical tail panel below the trunk lid.
All 70-72 GS have the emblem on the trunk lid,the 68-69 also has them, but the lid itself is way different then the later models,as we all know.Bruno.
I have a 1970 QQ decklid off a GSX. Original paint underneath stripped on top as I found it but would have to be something pretty good to let go of it but as I don’t have my 70 X factory spoiler anymore I am probably up the creek with my 71/72 GSX spoiler matching the 70 holes since different measurements. Should have never sold that spoiler
I like to hoard the blank lids. If it has paint, that’s enough option for me. BignastyGS, Didn’t I sell you a beige-colored 72 kid a few years ago? Did that have emblem holes?
Brian..That wasn't me.. I have a 70 decklid that's twisted or something. It doesn't fit real nice. I had the aftermarket rear spoiler on it when I had my 72 GS clone car. It has the GS emblem holes. Fritz...I am in the same boat as my OEM rear spoiler is also a 71 unit. It was installed and at one time painted Cortez Gold.. Not a 70,but I'll have to make do. I just contacted a guy on Facebook Market place with a nice, rust free 70 Monte Carlo decklid..Unfortunately,he's near Reading Pa, A 2 1/2 hour 1 way trip, but if we can strike a deal,a trip I'll make and NO holes...
I shipped one to one of you guys in eastern PA. He had a 71 or 72. Of you don’t find one in a week or so,let me know. Maybe I will cough one up. I shipped the last one FedEx ground.
Located me a 70 Monte Carlo decklid rust free,no emblem holes, and within an hour 15 minutes drive. Price is darn fair as well...
That is what I was thinking as well....a few spot welds and a few careful minutes to grind down and move on???
Bu,t I will not have to do that at all..A simple strip to metal, some primering and then color added..
