Wanted: tri-shield mirror bolt or place to get one

Discussion in 'Parts wanted' started by BamaWildcat, Feb 12, 2006.

  1. I had to drill out the single bolt that holds the tri-shield mirror into place on my Wildcat, as it was frozen in a position that allowed the mirror to fall.

Once I get the bolt out, I see it will be hard to replace. I was expecting a screw, because I have not seen a bolt that had a head like this bolt. Anyone have one laying around or know where I can buy one?

Hi. I had the same problem. I wound up going to a big box hardware store such as home depot. They have lots of screws in small plastic bins which you can buy sepatately. I believe it was an 8-32 machine screw countersunk philips head. They will be black or stainless. The head is slightly bigger than original so I ground it smaller. You can put a dab of silver paint on the head. Nobody will notice it.
    Good luck, John

  3. I went to Home Depot today. All the had countesunk were flathead, :moonu: so I got a few in stainless.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a correct screw, but for now, I just need to be legal to get it to the body shop.
