I have a 65 Wildcat that sat in a barn for years. The interior is in great shape but the paint is shot. It is a really boring silver and I would like to paint it a different color. How much does a good paint job cost if I'm changing colors and want it done right? I'm just ballparking, and I'm not looking for concourse quaility, just a good paint job.

The silver will look much better to you when it is fresh.

You can bring down the price if you are willing to do some of the work yourself, such as removal of parts from the car.

i, too, suggest that you remove/strip the car of all mouldings, mirrors, trim, bumpers, door handles, locks, grill, etc.. if you just want the car repainted with not bodywork performed then $4-5000 is probably okay from 3 coats of base & 3 coats of clear. does this include re-painting the door jambs and frame of doors, and the underside of the trunk lid?

If you are worried about originality then stick with the original color. But consider the reason you have the car in the first place. Is it for you to enjoy, or for someone else to enjoy? It's your car, and you plan on keeping it then paint it whatever color you want.

I believe that certain colors look better than others on a particular body style. I also believe that there are already more red cars in the world than there should be and some look better in it than others, but honestly, a deep red looks absolutely gorgeous on a `65 Wildcat. That would be my choice. Of course, if it has a green interior............... :) Just keep in mind, it's your car!
