I am getting ready to take my 67 GS back to the body shop to have the shell painted and I am wondering if the Shutz undercoating from the rear axle back was standard on this car? Any help is much appreciated, Thank You in advance:beers2: .............Ryan

Body Shutz and undercoating are two different things

Body Shutz was applied at the factory in certain areas to deal with sound deadening issues, such as inside the doors, roof, and often in the rear wheel well/to the rear of the car area. Depending on the Production Plant it is sometime found in the front wheel wells as well.

Undercoating was installed by dealers not at the factory.

To find out where the Body Shutz was applied you need to contact someone that knows what the factory did at your particular plant and year, or you could look at the car before any work was done.
    Did you take any pics?

Thanks Duane! I did not take any pics although I have not blasted the wheel wells or underbody yet and I clearly remember a rubberized coating in the rear wheel wells but not the underbody. I guess I just answered my own question if the Body shutz was applied at the factory in those areas. This car was born in Kansas City. I'll have to look closer behind the rear wheels, the trunk floor has already been replaced but there should be some evidence left. So if I do the rear wheel openings and behind the rear wheels(if I find signs of shutz) I should be correct? Thanks again for the info..............Ryan

Shultz? Wow, I've never heard of that term before! Good to learn something every day. I guess that's the yellow looking stuff inside the doors and the roof. Should I try to remove this stuff before applying dynamat? If so, what'sthebest way to remove it? Sorry for the hi-jack :Dou:
