washer res has been painted (how do i remove paint)?

Guys the title says it all i picked up a orginal window washer res (plastic) for my 65 skylark but it has been painted ,,who knows how long ago or with what .......BUT it is in great shape so id like to bring it back......ANY ideas?????thanks pete

 

Try some oven cleaner which is NaOH also found in many degreasers....such as Castrol Super Clean. If that does not work, Home Depot carries some citrus based paint strippers that I think is safe for plastics.
