Went to a car show at the airport. Weather was iffy, buncha cars bailed early because of the threat of rain showers.

A large variety of genres . Couple of rat rods, lotta vettes. A beautiful black on black 396 Impala. Vans , trucks, the odd Bricklin. Chatted up the owner of the custom van sporting a dual axle rearend suspension, I thought he was the owner of the sweet Riviera at first.

    2 Buicks , here's the second:

The Apollo was for sale . Window sign said $5500. You can see the rusty hood of a 69ish Olds 442 in the background. It was all original, even the crusty flakes it left on the ground when it left. No clue on that...All in all , a good time.
One more pic/shout-out, this is from last weekend, Goody Coles BBQ..(not far from NE Dragway)

We're stripping the floor in my daughter's room then sanding it and hopefully staining it tomorrow. We're trying to finish her room to make room for baby stuff as we're expecting another in a couple of weeks. No fun stuff this weekend. Haha

At a standstill on the boat for a few days, so it was time to take advantage of the 11% rebate from retards.

"I'm shakin' it boss, I'm shakin it..."

Completely excavated by hand and everything laid out + or - < 1/8 inch. So far with 1200 lbs of blocks plus another 800 lbs of leveling sand, its gonna be a treat to run the snowblower over it when the white stuff flies. completely hand excavated. I'm in a world of hurt. Got 12 of the 30 blocks laid and need another 10 bags of sand plus the joint mortar when I'm done. What a summer its been. ws

Installed new header gaskets on the KB blown Mustang 12 hours! Thought I blew a header gasket but it turned out the plug on the EGR port on the header (I tightened it with a 1/2" drive rachet), my first and last modular motor car. Started as a cheap project from a kid who couldn't afford to finish it but turned into a time eating nightmare. Thought I could have some fun with a cheap hot rod and then sell it, never again. From now on full size BB Buicks.

Mustang got new forged engine, pro performance 5 speed trans, adjustable four link etc, etc, etc... Installing 3" exhaust and alky injection too. Once I get the 550+ dyno slip it is for sale. These things are just way too much work, I could have just about restored the late 60's Buick I want for all the time I have in this thing.

Another wedding reception yesterday afternoon/evening. It ended early, so we took back roads home. Today, we are going to a couple friend's home for a cookout. Another 45 min. drive.

Finished putting the steering column in the T yesterday - still waiting for a couple of parts to replace those that are worn, but haven't driven it in five weeks and just couldn't stand it anymore. The parts are easy to swap, so I'll do that later. I took it to the grocery store today - a 15 mile round trip, and it ran flawlessly. I'm always amazed that a 90-year-old car with no shocks can ride as well as it does.
Bill - Is yours an "improved car"?

Yeah John... I improved it with a 455 Buick LOL...I sold the last one "The Pollinator Special" to a pal in Mintysoda that just got back (driving it!) from that big Montana Hill climb event. Out of all the T's Ive had, family and friends included, never driven one with diamond pedals. Always been 26-27s. Howz about a pic of Ol' Bessie???? Youre not one of those Land/Polaroid guys are ya???

The name came from the days of my YOOT. The "Special" was lengthened, lowered, sectioned, and hand built buy yers truly. Had 50 mph on the GPS with a stock fresh motor, on the MAG of course! ws

Thanks John... I know sometimes they come across as either editorials or long winded BS, but honestly, most are true with little embellishment. Being a German, Ive always had a problem making a long story short. Got that from the old man LOL. He was a great story teller, and after a quart of gin, and an hour long story, there was always a moral to the story or and end that made perfect sense. Even wasted, he never lost continuity; I inherited that too hahaha...
BTW, after starting work after high school at EMD in LaGrange, he ALWAYS drove Buicks, (and had a love for Model Ts too!) . I was about 9yo here and got a lesson on how to drive the big stuff. He kinda expected me to grasp everything after one tutorial. Another fault of mine! ws

Bill, I have several photos in my computer. Unfortunately, my computer will not allow me on V8 Buick.com; one day it just wouldn't remember me or even allow me to sign in. This is being typed on my bride's computer. That's the issue. I don't know how to access the photos. I'll talk to her later and see if I can e-mail one to her computer, then post it from there. BTW: Learning the basics of operating a bulldozer was easier for me then learning to drive a T.

Things are looking up! V8 Buick.com will now allow me on, it just won't remember me. I guess I'll have to live with that.

Wow that brings back some memories. back in 03 we rebuilt our entire sidewalk in pavers. 5 foot wide sidewalk that goes from street to the steps, around the side of the house, back into the yard and around the grden and up the deck. With curved corners. And outlined in another color. I couldn't walk right for two weeks, something like 15,000 lbs of bricks, it went on forever it seemed. Bylaw mornings to bylaw nights for over a week solid. No fingerprints left (security at the airport got excited when i went back to work, couldn't scan through and they didn't have retina scans at that time).... so yeah, get some help, don't hurt yourself, make sure you celebrate when done!!!

Hi Bill My '27 Spent most of it's life on Naushon and Nonnamessett Islands, which are a part of the Elizabeth Island chain located between the coast of Massachusetts and Martha's Vineyard. Nonnamessett point is on the east side of Nonnamessett Island. As are most of the Elizabeth Islands, Nonnamessett and Naushon are owned by the Forbes family trust. Neither of these islands are open to the public. There are about four or five miles of dirt roads on these islands which are connected by private bridges. The T in the picture may well be one of the lowest mileage regularly used Ts in existence. When I first bought it, it had a severe overheating issue. In the course of my diagnosing the problem I pulled the head. There was absolutely no ridge at the top of the cylinders and no evidence that anyone had been there before me. As I'm sure you know, the late Ts had a serial number stamped on the frame rail on the front passenger side. This number matches the engine number, so it has the original engine. The car also had a few repairs of the backyard mechanic variety, which tends to confirm the car's history - there are no auto service facilities on the Elizabeth Islands, and no land vehicle access to the mainland. Naushon Island is where the Forbes families' summer houses are located. Nonnamessett is uninhabited. And yes, it still has the magneto ignition. All you wanted to know, and perhaps more.

Nice old bomber and yer pretty fortunate to find one with a history to boot! I was engineer on a tugboat delivery from Boston through the Cape Cod Canal into the LI sound to the East River at Throgs Neck and up to Waterford (Albany) to the Erie canal. We did the CCC to take advantage of the 2.5Kn current with the tide. I not only had to run the old 600hp Superior diesel but had to do the navigation as well. I seem to remember the island chain and must digress, I had to look it up again. Was that where you moved from? ws

Nope, although I flew my Comanche over the Elizabeth chain often, and particularly over Nonnamessett Island (although I must confess that I didn't know it's name at the time). My favorite little "mission" if I hadn't flown for a while, was a round trip from home plate in SE Massachusetts, around Martha's Vineyard and back home. An alternate favorite flight was from home base - first Norfolk, (now closed) then Mansfield, and finally Taunton, to Provincetown, then over Monomoy Island, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, then back home. I guess that we are all partial to where we spent the bulk of our lives, but I think that the eastern Massachusetts coast is some of the prettiest real estate in the USA. Block Island and eastern Long Island fit into the same category.
