I need a water pump pulley for a '62 - 401. I need the small one (for a/c cars) I believe they about 4 1/2 inches in diamater. Been looking quite a while for one, any one have one they want to sell? My car wants to overheat when it idles for extended periods of time. If I raise the idle, it cools down, so I"m thinking if I put the smaller pulley on the pump it will turn faster at idle and hopefully solve the problem. I just put a new 5 impeller pump for an A/C car on and it didn't seem to make any difference at all. I've had the radiator rebuilt with 4 cores, insured the schroud fits snug, put a new 160 degree thermostat in, checked the ignition timing (12 BTDC), installed a 7 blade clutch fan, tried diffrent combinations of coolant including "water wetter" and even had the exhaust manifolds "jet-hotted" with ceramic coating to reduce under hood temps. Nothing has worked. Car runs cool - about 170 going down the road but when you stop and idle in traffic or a parade the temp gauge keeps going up. Anybody ever heard of this problem or have any ideas? I'm hoping the smaller pulley will help - If I could find one!
