    Last year, I bought an NOS water valve from a member here intending to use it on my 65 GS. It's Group 9.975 Part # 1 #495613. This weekend, I finally compared it to what's on my car and.....you guessed it, they're different.:Dou: Then I checked the CARS website, and found the exact match to my car.

    Upon closer inspection, I believe I can use the NOS valve if I slightly modify the short inlet hose. Question: Is there any major difference between the two valves. I do not recall the NOS valves original application. :Dou: I just want to get the AC functioning properly, as the old valve has gone on permanent vacation.

    You need to make sure that the valve opens and closes the same way when vacuum is applied/removed. I installed one for a Skylark on my Centurion and it worked opposite of what it was supposed to. So it only worked when the AC was on Recirc. It would close when I tried to run the heat. Not good when it's 22* out and you're girlfriend is in a little black dress.

    That is the most important part.

    I tested the new one using the cars AC switch, but I could not verify it was closing properly. My crude methodology is to simply blow through the valve, but when it's hooked up to the car (not installed), that gets dangerous. :laugh::laugh:

    I have ordered the correct one from CARS, so perhaps it will wait. In the meantime, vice grips will suffice for blocking the hose. :Smarty::spank::Dou:

    BTW, fixed your grammar :Brow::TU:
