Using OTC products what have you guys found gives the best shine & longevity on a white vehicle? I'm not looking for a multi step process as my paint is as new. I've heard some products work better on dark colors and others better on light. :idea2:

Not sure I understand better products for paint protection based on color. Keep it clean and wax it when the water doesn't bead up is what I know. Clay when it gets lots of little bumps from crud. Is it a clear coat, or lacquer?

I love Meguiar's NXT generation tech wax but it doesn't really last very long, but the shine is great. There gold class carnauba is very good too and seems to last longer.

I have been using Meguiars products for years but they have so many different products. On my Skylark I have used the Meguiars NXT as well and I agree it doesn't last long but it does go on a come off easy. Meguiars just came out with an "Ultimate Wax" which I used on my wife's maroon vehicle but its a pain to get off. Might try some Meguiars #26 as I just found some on my shelf. I understand that light and dark colors are both covered by clear coats but some waxes do provide more clarity don't they? I was hoping there was something else out there worth trying.

Google this site. "Adams Polishes" People seem to be very happy with their stuff. I use Ibiz and it seems to be OK. My car isn't white however. Lots of different answers to this question. Mike D.

Will do. Just did my car with Meguiars Ultimate. Looks real wet but don't know how long it will last. It's definitely a deeper shine than the NXT, at least for me. It's been on my wife's truck for 2 months in the Florida sun and seems to be holding up. We'll see. That said it's still somewhat difficult to get completely off but goes on real easy!

A friend gave me some Adams to try awhile back. Unfortunately, I didn't see that much of a difference from other stuff I was using and it didn't hold up at all in the Florida sun. I had read somewhere that carnuba wax breaks down in the heat which might explain why. The synthetics seem to hold up better but with the exception of a few products I have tried they don't really give the vehicle a wet look.

Most car waxes are made from three main things: white wax, yellow wax and oils.
The oils suspend the waxes to make them useable and feed the paints dryness.
Carnuba wax comes from the Carnuba tree, the leaves are coated with wax to protect it from UV rays yet still let it absorb and release O2.(pure carnuba wax is OK on fresh paint as it lets it outgas)
There are special Carnuba trees that produce a whiter wax,but most white wax is refined yellow wax.
White wax is clearer and more glossy, yellow wax is harder and offers more protection.
More of one will reduce the effectivenes of another ingrediant so you need to find the combo that works for your paint and enviorment
