Here is the scenario: 1970 Lesabre runs great. I pull it into the driveway to begin to strip the motor in preparation for taking it out. I remove: air filter housing A/C compressor and move it still connected to the side alternator and bracket (wires disconnected) power steering pump and bracket and move to the other side radiator, shroud and fan (no clutch (yet)) I remove the coil to remove the AC bracket and I put the coil back That's it. I went to move the car to the street just now and it wont start. It turns over fine, but it wont start. It's not out of gas and it has spark at the coil wire. Q: Is the alternator some important part of the starting system? TIA Frank
I never disconnected them. The negative term goes to the points and the positive term comes out of the harness. I did hook 12VDC directly to it and no help. Frank
