Well, I touched my first $600,000 car

Last week while I was in southern Florida I had a delivery at a small bakery. While I was waiting for the customer to comeback I noticed two tractor/trailers with one having the Ferrari logo on it. Once I noticed the customer was going to be awhile I walked over to the shop that the trucks belonged to and saw in front of the dumpster a Ferrari with a big wing on back. When one of the shop worker's walked out I asked if that was a F-40 and he replied no, it's a Ferrari F-50! He then invited me inside to show me the rest of the cars inside and I wish I brought my camera to show you guys. This shop works on the Enzo's Ferrari racing team which race two Ferrari Modena 360's. The F-50 belongs to one of the racing team's owners. Also in the shop was a Nobel M400 which is built in South Africa and blows the Ferraris away with 0-60 mph in 3 secs from it's twin turbo 3.0 litre Ford V-6. This car is illegal to import into the US as a complete car so they had to ship it with the engine and tranny separately. The cool part of the tour was when he took me to the other side where they fabricate the racecars. Inside they were building the factory Lexus racecar for the 24 hours of LeMans at Daytona. The car is running a 4.3 litre Lexus engine that's cut off at 500 hp. He told me that car costs $275,000 to build. While talking to the shop worker for awhile he told me the only car's that impress him are the musclecars. He told me with the price of the Ferrari's, they are over-rated with the performance they give and require too much maintence to keep running.

Hey Rob, that's a great story! Did you ask if they have any job openings in the shop? :Brow:

I did a service call 2 weeks ago....Guy was having some work done on his house before he moved in. He wasn't there, so he gave us the code for the garage door.....we open the door and there are THREE bright red Ferrari's there! One was a F-40, dual turbos....awesome! They had Florida plates, and were part of the Classic Coach race team.....any relation to the cars you saw?

The owner bought this million-dollar 'weekend' house so they could come down on weekends, and his daughter could take her horse-riding lessons.....some people just have too much money...... :ball:

I don't know if they have any openings, but he said to comeback again whenever I get the chance. The people who own these cars have more money than we can possibly comprehend. The owner of the F-50 drives it on the street instead of storing it away like alot of the F-50 owners. I was told the owner of the F-50 was going to look at another one and from what I was told they only made 50 of these. So, to spend another $600,000+ on a car kind of tells you people must have a money printing machine in their basement. I didn't ask what their hourly rate is for working on the cars, but the guy told me the Ferrari dealership charges $170 an hour, so I can't see it being that far off. I know the Ferrari dealership in Pompano Beach, FL sponsors the racing team.

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

When I was in high school I worked part time in a shop that did a lot of Ferrari bodywork for guys that raced them on weekends. I thought they were quick until one of the owners offered me a ride, it handled nice but wasn't very fast. Fast forward to March of last year, I saw a Ferrari 355 on the GS Parkway leaving the tollbooth. I was in the Vette, he couldn't see I was on skinnies and slicks:D He tried me, and it wasn't pretty. You will seldom see someone that pissed off, he lost to a car that sold for what his yearly maintenance bills added up to  Wouldn't even look over at me when I slowed down to give him a thumbs up.
