I bought this car for the shell. looked pretty straight but i'm no body man. i got the body off the frame and on to the rotisserie.
Honestly I didn't really look at the details I just saw the floor pans and started doing repairs.
then went to the other side and evaluted what need to be done there. this is where it goes bad, fast.
I see a small crippled section by the inner well and under back seat area. (see pic)
that leads to the back seat frame being crippled so now i'm looking for T-bone damage
and up under the trunk I feel the rear quarter has a overlap seam. well my french lessons kicked in right then and there.
Throwing down combos like Bill Murry in christmas vacation.
I do have the other body. whats bad on one body is good on the other and vice versa.
Now im at a cross road. so I'm asking...Q: What do I do ?

That's a pickle for sure, about the only suggestion I have is to find a sure enough better body than both or dig into whichever body is best, if its a tossup I'd ho for the one that hasn't had the piss knock out of it and even if it needs a little more love overall I myself would feel better about it

What you have is certainly "repairable" but your talking new 1/4, wheelhouses, frame and or floor section replacement, once it can be accessed it can be pulled and worked out but you gotta get to it

2=1, dig in! You're in a pickle, but on the bright side you have the parts on hand to make it right. Fear no metal! Dig in and give it h#ll, the juice is worth the squeeze, trust me. It was the unexpected trials and tribulations that I remember most and are most proud of. Yours will be too when you point out "I fixed this by doing this" and people's jaws drop. Cut, weld, repeat.

I like the body that has the complete rear quarters. the best part of that car is the worst part of the other car. the overlap quarter really bothers me and the bondo is cracking at the sail/quarter transition. dead on the overlap. yet the other car is toast except the part I need.

I know I have enough to make one real good car I just never got into body work like this. it's beyond anything I have ever tackled. I don't need yet another learning experience..UGH. I can't take this abuse much longer. I need at a minimum someone to guide me. the "work" I can do. fear of the unknown sucks.

Thanks for the response guys. I need to decide what side of the bridge to jump off of

Its a lot of extra work for sure, but on the up side, you can fearlessly do what you want to the car. If you like the rear tires to look like they came off a steamroller its a candidate for tubbing.

I feel your pain man. I jumped into so many previously "unknowns" for me it's ridiculous, but in the end I'm better for it. I know you will be too. Just research, ask questions here, and remember metal is easily fixed (and re-fixed, I would know). Again, "fear no metal".

Wish I was closer. I'm no expert, but I'd love to help ya on this one.

Wow, that clip is probably going to haunt my dreams....haha

"Fear no metal" became a battle cry during my project so I like to shout it whenever I can!

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Cut the parts from the other car and weld them on that shell. Use the best frame.

Jump off on the shallow end, where you only fall a few feet. According to people I know who have helped those who have jumped off bridges after the fact (i.e., in the ER) the jumpers all say that any problems they had disappeared when they jumped.

IIRC, that bondo is where the roof meets the rest of the body when the body was manufactured. As has been mentioned, you could tub it, now...if it wasn't for the fact that your nicely painted frame is nice and straight.

I see what you mean. The rest of the car looks to be in decent shape. Hows the quarter panel, wheel house and package tray on car A.

Missed the post/video of car A. It does have all the parts you need. Perfect. Now the fun begins.

Would you say the best course of action would be to take car A parts and repair car B and live with the repaired right quarter panel ? you can feel inside the trunk where they overlapped the metal rather then butt joint. that's the part that's driving me crazy. if the quarters were original I would be cutting metal all ready. Car A need a ton of work. I hate to redo the quarter on car B along with everything else. that may be my only choice. Or just run car B as is, and take the next few years repairing car A. Hmmm

News Flash!!! We have a new direction for Joe's 67 Lark :TU::TU:
We had a meeting with my body guy to plan a repair to straighten the body.
Joe has been disappointed when he reached under the carpet and package tray areas.
Stay tuned boys! We are back in the go mode. :3gears:

As Nick said, Back in action.
going to continue repairing floor patches on the white car and take the good pieces from the red car. it's always good when someone qualified
tells you...Don't worry, everythings going to be ok. it's not that bad.
Oh, and the white car is almost the gray car. I got a little happy with the razor blade last night.
I got both quarters and the whole roof done before running out of daylight.
