well, @TABuickMike I think you should update your site because your descriptions don't cover any of these details. If I had known some of this, it might have swayed my opinion several years back on the Flowkooler. vs your pump. Good to know.

Mike, as I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread I put one of your 1537BHP pumps on my engine literally Friday morning and it has reduced my running temps by 13°. I was going to buy a flowkooler originally but I read alot of good things on your HP pumps and looked at both very carefully and found that your impeller design made way more sense being a closed unit. I'm a believer and a supporter of the TA pump and now that I have seen first hand that the claims to "reduce running temps" are true I'll never put another brand pump on EVER again!

The nose of the pump may have broke from an imbalance of the fan.
Had the same thing happen to a 454 Chevy powered car hauler I was driving way back when, I was on my way back up to Ohio from Miami Fla, engine had a vibration at certain speeds, then just south of New Philadelphia Ohio on 77 North, WAABAM:mad: engine ran real smooth, I checked gauges, and the temp gauge started rising FAST!

With all of this fan trouble, why not put on an electric fan?

Because the stock clutch fan gets the job done better. That is all I use with the engine in my signature.

Or maybe even an electric pump as well?

Anyway, you ask a good question and an electric fan can be the better choice for some guys but just as with a belt-driven fan, there are pros and cons with an electric fan too.
    possible cons:

    Cost can be way more
Electrics eat and need a lot of current, so you might need to upgrade charging system
It won't look stock, which makes it a deal-breaker for many

I am trying to figure out whether I should switch to an electric, but I probably won't unless a regular one just can't cool my engine enough.

I would have to agree that the TA pump doesn’t appear to be much different than stock and had I known some of its qualities, I would have ordered it. But i don’t have time to call every manufacturer and ask questions on every part so I just read the literature

Great explanation... need to get this message out there. I see what you mean by the impeller design. My timing cover is a little worn so it won’t have the tight clearance any more.

    I’ll call you soon.

9D9078B6-1A90-4F62-90A7-3B7E37CC6C52.jpeg TA pump on the way. I temporarily set up my old pump and fan... looks like the fan sits entirely inside the shroud.

Hey Matt did you order the HP pump or just normal TA pump? Did flowkooler give you a hard time cancelling and giving your money back?

Flowkooler was very good to me so far and they were able to get their pump back while in transit. Let’s see how this plays out with the money!

I went with the TA high performance pump. With my timing cover being a little worn, I’m hoping this pump can compensate for that a little.

I think you'll be happy with the TA HP pump, I know I'm happy with mine:)

Matt. FWIW. I would try to clean smooth out the TC the best you can.. I dont know what intake you are using Im using the Idlebroke. It has 2 ports that can be used for temp sensors. I use a mechanical gauge in one and in the other I have a sacrificial zink in it... water cavitates above 3000 rpm the cavitation will break metals down with the electrolysis it builds.

Paid $20 more than the others and quite honestly it looks just like the others. I’ll just donate my $20 to summit and move on.

On a good note, the old fan clutch was 4.25 lbs. The new one is 2.8 lbs. a savings of 1.45 lbs! Whoopee!!!!

    Right Mike.
I've heard of pumps failing and damaging the hood.

Putting new studs in last night. Well, the dang kit from the parts place had nuts in it for the fine threaded side, rather than the course threaded side. The water pump takes fine threads. Time for a trip to the hardware store to get the correct nuts.

Do you use a thread locker (lock tite)on the studs? They screwed in by hand, seems like it could use it.

You're gonna like that pump:). I don't have a clutch and fan setup on my car so I used fine thread grade 8 bolts with lock washers on the pulley, so far so good!
