    Hey all,

I finally got my GS back on the road after a 1 year blown transmission issue. I have been going over the car and I noticed that I am missing some of the Tinmans Nuts (what my dad calls them) that hold various trim peices on the car. For instance, the metal nose peice on the hood has 8 - 10 of them screwed onto each post that sticks through the sheet metal. Anyway, where can I find these? I have asked around, and everyone knows what I am lookig for, they jsut don't know where to get them.

Also I am looking for the screws that would hold on the hood scoops from the underside of the hood. I think they are #5 or #8 body or interior screws (black). It has been almost 8 years since I finished the resto, and I can't remember where I got this stuff at the time.

One last question. A while ago the left trunk lid trim disapeared from my car so I had to order new. Now that I have it, how the heck can I get it to stay on the car? I don't want to have to take the bumper off to get my hand under there to put the nuts on, is there any othe way???

Thanks in advance for you help.

Unless you're looking for an exact factory match, I would think you'd be able to get them at any auto body supply store or at Eastwood. I've even found them at my local Ace Hardware before.

Lowe's has them in the hardware aisle in drawers marked Automotive Fasteners. Probably not just like factory but close.

Thanks everyone, I will give all of these a shot. I appreciate the quick responses.

Now if I can just figure out how to attach that trim price without removing the bumper............................

    Thanks all

Those nuts are often called PAL nuts as well.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

You don't have to remove the bumper in order to install the qtr cap chrome trim. Sometimes.....you can remove the 3 nuts that hold the cap to the qtr and slip it out from the bumper. Sometimes...you just need to loosen the bumper and push it down slightly in order to slip out the qtr cap. Make sure you use the PAL nuts to hold the trim on and don't overtighten....real easy to strip the metal studs.

Yet another name for them. Why waste time with ebay when you can get anywhere?

Thanks guys, speed nuts - thats them.

I checked Lowes as suggested and could not find them. I will be hitting the hardware store to check that out.

I knew that I could remove the corner piece and attach that way, but the car was painted with the corner caps on, I don't want to chance screwing with the paint.

I will try loosening the bumper and pushing it down.

I had heard one other trick on the board a while ago and that was to use standard wall anchors and put them in the holes, and then just push the trim in. Not sure if this would work as I would probably need to sand down the girth of the studs so they would fit.

As always, thanks for the suggestions.
