I asked the question here before but can find the post, what cars have 8.5 rear axles that I can use in my 68 skylark?

    Thanks!!

1971/72 Skylark and Cutlass. I just installed a 1971 Skylark in my 65 Sportwagon.

The 71/72 rears have no c-clips (NHRA LEGAL). Since factory spider gears are often the weak link, just install a Richmond Detroit "Locker" for off road, or a Detroit "Truetrac" for street/strip.
The "Locker" may be jerky on corners and be too lockin' good for safe wet road driving.
The "Truetrac" has no clutches, smooth on turns, allows for safer wet road driving.
    These babies are strong.
