I have a 1970 conv. with a 455 That has been "rebuilt". aftermarket carb, Hei dist. not stock.
I have to now trace wires, trace vac lines and find out what else is changed. I have a couple of items
that I can't identify: Drivers side intake manifold that pipe with the nut on it?

    Behind the carb? http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/s668/canis0202/It Is A Buick/ItsaBuick0072_zps0f212f69.jpg
    Thanks for any help!

72 gs conv ny Where's this part go?

That pipe with the nut is for a air pump, is that a later manifold?

The dealie on the back of the manifold used to be an EGR valve

If its a 455, the donor engine, or at least the heads and intake, look like a 72-later motor with the smog exhaust rail in the intake.

Yes, it is a later intake, so keep the pipe on the side capped off. Then keep the EGR blocked on the back. But the smaller thing in the back of the intake with the vertical connection is the PCV valve and that needs to be connected to vacuum. Someone else will have to chime in whether the vacuum source is ported or unported.

The PCV valve gets full manifold vacuum. Look at your carburetor for a 3/8" vacuum fitting. The carburetor is expecting that air flow as part of the calibration.

Thank you very much. I just bought this. I have no idea what has been done to it yet.
It is the right engine but I don't know anything else about it. But you input will help me get it running well.
Thank you. I'll send picutres when it's on the road, soon.

Post the numbers on the step of the block between the back of the intake and the firewall. It will also have the numbers 455 in raised letters back there.

1972-76 Buick 455. Looks like the engine has been replaced at some point.
