What causes this, LWT Sydrome?

I call it the LWT Sydrome(Loose Windage Tray)!
Some tell tale signs this was happening, I could not get the oil dipstick to go back in at Bristol last year, when the engine was warm, acted like it was hitting something?:Dou: I fiqured it was the windage tray, since Dave Dechent had had a similar experience last year. [IMG]
So what's the answer, I know, that fancy oil pan on with the windage tray built in, some day, maybe. In the meantime, we got racing to do. So I cleaned one up and put washers and blue loctite on the bolts, per JT (aka The Old Guy) and ready to go bolt the pan back on! More later. RV

Roberta....I think harmonics have alot to do with it. My new motor is internally balanced and that may help.
I've seen it happen alot. Once my old motor was making a nasty noise like rod bearings gone and it was just the windage tray flopping around smacking the crank. Put some washers on the bolts and ran another 1000 runs down the track......
