Getting ready to paint the frame and wondered....anyone ever use silver hammered metal paint on the frame? Not original but looks good! I understand it will show dirt and grime, but beyond this any thoughts would be appreciated... Scott
I panted mine with the 415 stuff and it looks good but the silver sounds like it will look good but will it last is what i be wondering
Ahh you can change that rust color....what an incredibly messy endeavor! Anyhow the silver hammered metal really looks good and clean. It will definitely show mud, but there's not much of that where I'll be driving.
Sorry Scott, poor attempt at humor! I make the non-rusty areas that are visible satin black. Depending on your color scheme with the rest of the car, your choice of frame color will be fine. Though I concede I don't know what "silver hammered" looks like in color. Devon
Hey Scott, I am going with Eastwood's Extreme Satin Black. It's one of those "it's your car" things. Although I have no plans to sell the car, and while I'm not looking for a full on "points car" restoration, I am at least trying to make it so that the car can be taken by its next owner and restored to original without having to start all over. A "medium" resto-mod. My $.02
I used Eastwood's regular chassis black and think it is way, way too glossy. :bglasses: The satin is probably much better.
I'm hoping the next owner of the car is one of my kids. ray: Joe how was your birthday? Regal81455 the frame will look very similar to yours, and I'm beginning to like it more now that I see it on yours. What paint did you use?
Pretty cool Scott - thanks for asking. Had to do a work meeting, but went out for a fancy four course wine dinner in the evening with the mrs.
My choice too Dale, but I didn't mind the gloss, as the entire front end is high gloss black. :bglasses:
I used Rustbullet basecoat - its kinda like POR15 but is UV stable. You can buy it direct from www.rustbullet.com or through summit, probably jegs too
