Okay here is my problem, What do I do now that I don't have a place to work on my "WINTER PROJECT"? I have no Garage to pull into and I don't want to freeze my butt off out in the driveway :af: ! I guess I could build the model I have of a 66 Wildcat and do a 1/25 version of what I would like my Cat to look like? Does anyone else have this problem? It is driving me crazy :(

I feel your pain, I have a garage to work in with a car in it, with parts to put on it, in it, etc.... you get the idea.... too darn cold even in the garage... Gotta get some heat out there.....Spring will be here before we know it.... :ball:

I Would love to have a cold garage to work in right about now! that how bad I want to keep my project going! I have a lot of work to get done before I can put her on the road, I hear you tho about still being cold! Standing cold air is just as bad being in a meat locker!

I would say if you wanted to continue your project in the winter, rent a garage so you can at least work indoors. That's what I did. I did it for almost 8 long years. My garage is not heated or cooled (it's not even insulated), so I worked on my car and braved the elements. People get the wrong impression when you tell them you restored your car;they think you did it in ideal conditions-I can tell you,it wasn't me.

That's about the only advice I can give you.

    Dream, plan and prepare

I think you have the right idea with the model. Work out what you want and see how it looks.

One thing that sets outstanding cars apart from the rest is a clarity of vision and how consistantly that theme is carried out. Take the time to build your final product in your imagination and in plastic.

Once you have your goal in mind make a plan, what are you going to tackle first? Scour this board for step by step instructions and hints on the projects you're considering. Take your time hunting for bargains on tools and parts there's amazing stuff for sale on this board and there are bargains to be found on eBay (occasionally). Spending the next couple of months planning what you'll do will help you think of the parts and tools you'll need to complete the job. You can get a lot done in a weekend if you don't have to run out for missing parts or get stuck 1/2 way through.

I have friends who would lend me their garage for a long weekend or two during the winter. I could get a lot accomplished in those very focused 3 day blasts. I'm going to declare a couple of these 3 day thrashes in my own garage this winter. No house work, no chores, tell my wife to pretend I've gone skiing. She's so understanding, I usually help her plan something that she'd like 3 days to focus on.

The garage I borrowed wasn't heated, I would stick the nose of the car in the garage, lower the door to the base of the windshield, stuff foam between the fenders and door jambs and run the car. Nice big radiator with a fan would warm the place up in 20 minutes. You could stick the whole car in the garage and run an exhaust hose if you trust your exhaust system. I didn't.

Oh yeah,I also want to add that during those almost 8 years,I never once lost interest in my restoration project.Of course, things did not go easy sometimes, but I perservered and was determined to finish my car.(which I did)

I've rented indoor boat storage. Kind of the same as mini-storage, but lots cheaper and enough room for a car and all sorts of stuff. Don't know if they have indoor boat storage up North, but works really well down here!
