I put the 2016 GMC away for winter and have been driving my 05 GMC beater... It sure is nice to drive something you can beat on without worry about scratching it or denting it... This old truck has served me well, 393,000 miles, no engine work done except some head porting and a cam.
I drive my '74 F100 2wd everyday, rain, shine, or snow. I just take off the 18s and put on my whitewall snow tires, moondiscs, and 200 lbs. of weight in the back. Still get thumbs up and "nice truck" comments no matter the weather, year round.
Depends on what the wife takes to work. but it could be any of the cars but the wagon. my wife baby, 1984 Lincoln Towncar, or our 1985 Crown vic 2 dr, 2016 Impala limited, or the 2017 Lincoln MKZ awd.
2001 Buick Century. It's actually an everyday beater, not just winter. Keeps the GMC Sierra off the salty roads as much as possible and saves me some gas money.
Thanks! It was a 360, but I stroked it with a 390 crank, bored .030 over, so 395" now. It's built pretty healthy, about 375 hp. Runs 14s in the quarter, and I autocross the truck also.
2001 Saturn is my year-round beater/work commuter. I still drive my Ram about once a week to work though (and mostly on the weekends).
Winter? If the forecast is snow or ice (defcon 1 with our weathermen) we drive whatever’s handy to buy all the milk and bread (I think that’s required by state law) and beer and steak. Then, IF it happens, we stay home until it’s gone, usually two or three days. Patrick
the white one is daily driver.. even in winter. the green one gets the garage year round and doesn't see daylight again until spring
If it snows I drive the GMC, if it doesn't snow I drive the Lexus, no pics of a boring 13 year old Lexus. I shouldn't dog it, I like it so well I won't sell it and buy something newer.
My 2001 Buick LeSabre, - for now. But it seems it might be on it's last legs as it now wants some major money. A rear window regulator cable snapped and the window is currently held up with tape, and the car needs shocks in the worst way. So about $2K to fix it up. At 200,000 miles, it's probably worth all of about $78.95 so I don't know what to do. Oh yeah, it doesn't heat worth a damn anymore, which is an important consideration at -20.
The same thing as my summer beater - My 2005 Dodge Dodge Magnum RT. It still has the Massachusetts snow tires on it, and will until they wear out. You don't see snow tires a lot here in sunny SW Florida
Being from Michigan I don't consider what happens down here in North Carolina winter. Needless to say I drive a little 2002 Hyundai Elantra whipping child. She is good on gas and hasn't required much in the ways of repairs. Only had to replace a downpipe that got a hole in it because my better half liked to barrel into the inclined driveway at 20mph. The Chevy Truck is for the wife getting groceries and family trips. I try and take the GS to work at least once a week, as long as weather is good and I don't have much going on at work that day.
Year around: 1992 Plymouth Acclaim. I sold this car new to Bro and Sister-in-laws. She drove it until she bought her late Father's Taurus from stepmonster. Car then went to her Mom. Mom passed and we bought it from estate in 2001. 3.o V6 Rusty Comfy.
What is this winter thing you guys always speak of? Here the trees stay green until march. all the leaves fall off and grow back by the 1st of april. I'll drive the Riv and race the Regal yr round
We're that way up here right now....my lawn is still green and a lot of the trees still have leaves on them. Pouring rain all week, but 55 degrees for the high on Thanksgiving. I'm planning on opening up the garage doors, lighting the barbeque, and spending my 4 day weekend playing with the cars.
Yeah it's -22 C (-7 F) here today... I hope it doesn't get too cold this winter. I'm driving an 02 LeSabre and have replaced 3 of the 4 window regulators in the last 4 years---the other one was replaced before I got it. Watch one of the youtube videos and order regulator and motor assembly online for about $50-75 and replace in about 1 hour. My rear air shocks rusted out on my watch and they were not real expensive either. Haven't had to deal with the heater----yet.
