I wanted to clean up the trunk of one of my cars. I roughed up the trunk pan and just srayed some plain black rustoleum on it but that did not look very good at all. I did not want to do a overlly great job on this but I did not want it to look like crap either. I went to Lowes home improvement and bought some rustoleum textured paint for $6 and I was happilly surprized with how it came out. I dont think it is correct but I think it is close enough and looks OK. What do you guys think?????? I sprayed the spare tire cover with it also.

Looks great Ryan! I had gotten some surface rust in my trunk thanks to installing one of the repro rubber trunk mats. I took a wire brush to the trunk pan, then painted the trunk with POR-15, then top coated the whole thing with trunk splatter paint and it looks good. I threw out the repro trunk mat and bought some indoor/outdoor dark grey carpet from Home Depot and cut it to fit. The new carpet looks good and doesn't trap any moisture underneath.
After my last splatter paint job I clobbered the whole thing with clear to make the finish tough as nails and basically waterproof.
Like he stated above just avoid rubber mats or save them just for show. George suggested this as well.
Clear coat makes it resist water very well! My trunk gets wet a lot from rain and no rust at all.:TU:
