Jason, I do not think that is correct. Is there a part number? There were two optional caps in 70. I found an NOS that was identical to my original. Mine has a scalloped edge. I can post a picture later this weekend.

I am guessing that is a generic replacement.

The two optional gas caps for 70(assembly manual) were 405373 and 406045. The photo below if I remember correctly is an NOS 405373. It is exact to the original from my GSX.

Thanks Dave! I'll have to keep my eyes open for one now that I know what Im after.

I always find it amusing what these restoration places hawk as "correct" repros. When it comes down to it, its only correct because thats what they have in stock.

20 bucks shipping priority mail? Seriously I find that hard to believe. For a box that size I recall it would be in the 5-7 dollar range for most places to to be sure less than 10 bucks.

Interestingly, I have (what I think) is the factory cap for my 71 and it looks completely different from the 70. Its much deeper

'71 is non-vented...has built-in pressure/vacuum valve...don't think '70 had, so earlier caps should be "correct"...when I found GM Accessory locking cap for mine, had to make sure was a non...
