Like it says, I've got an 8.5" rear complete, drum to drum in the back of my truck. Loaded it in St.Louis with the help of my young and strong son and an engine lift. Now I'm home and can't figure out how to get it out by myself. Don't have an engine hoist, but do have access to a tractor with a hay fork so maybe that will work? Just don't want to break the forks. Thanks.
I've dead lifted them a few times, 250lbs tops considering I weigh around 160lbs. They are more awkward to handle than heavy. You can always use two ratchet straps and hang it from what ever the hay forks are attached too, which may be of more substantial construction.
I was in this same position. with the rearend on one side of the truck bed, pull out the rear end from the side and put in on the ground leaving the other side on the gate. then grab the other end from the gate and swing it to the ground as well. use dollies to move it around after that. good luck. don't hurt yourself. OR..Wait for help. o No:
Drive really fast in reverse and hit the brakes really hard with the tailgate down???? Seriously though, I've done this ^^^ a number of times. As long as you dont have an easily tweak-able back (remember lift with your legs!) it can be done. They aren't as heavy as they seem when lifted one side at a time. Now if you have a prior history of back issues, wait for help!
I would guess around 200-225 lbs. I've picked them up and put them in my truck or on a car trailer. Now I am 220 lbs. myself.
