I was thinking the BPG nationals may be a fun event to attend. It seems to have been talked about enough on this board.

My question is: What events are actually going on? There's racing on Sunday, what else is happening?

On the table right now is test and tune Thursday, Friday, and Friday can also be qualifying runs. Saturday is the All Buick Car Show all day, including a Unrestored GSX Seminar followed by a BBQ - All at the track- Note that there will not be any racing going on during the show seminars and BBQ. Plenty of grassy area and room. Then sometime late afternoon after the BBQ, racing will start under the lights, more test and tune and qualifying sessions. Sunday will be the race program.

Things may change a bit as we may add more into the total program, but for now this is how things are laid out.

More info wil follow in the upcoming weeks.

I've been wanting to ask a few questions about the Nats for awhile. Can non-BPG members participate in racing? What about 3800 equiped non-Buicks (Grand Prix)? The reason I ask is cause I'd like to get my brother to come out to the track. He's not really into Buicks or anything else right now, but since he owns a nice 3800 equipped car, I'd like to invite him if its acceptable. Maybe this can be like an outreach program?

Is the schedule such that you can show and then race the same car?

    I second that!

I plan on doing both. I want to race and enter the show.

To answer any questions about racing and showing your car, yes it is very possible. There will be NO RACING (PERIOD.....!!!!!) during the car show portion of the BPG National event. Saturday is "car show day", with the car show taking up most of the morning/early afternoon, a clinic put on by Duane Heckman following, presentation of awards for the car show participants, then racing under the lights until 11 pm.

If there was one thing that "tee'd" me off about other events, was trying to compete with a Big Block Buick with open headers firing up during the car show/clinics. This will NOT happen at your BPG event as long as I am show director. PERIOD.

Short answer: Yep, you can do that.

For you show guys Brad had and still is working hard to provide you guys a top quality all Buick Show with no distractions of racing and dust flying around. This way we can all relax and enjoy the show. Hats off and thumbs up to Brad!

so far I see one night of racing (saturday night), one car show (saturday), one day of racing on sunday.

Is there anything planned for friday or friday night.

I'm thinking about going, and I'm not quite sure what days I should be there.

Does anyone have any non-official events planned? What else is there to do in the area?

    Are any vendors invited?

Be nice to score some items, or check out the latest offerings.

I talked to Tabco Body panels at a recent swap and mentioned the event. He showed interest in attending. Has anyone invited them? Maybe we could sweet talk them into tooling up some fenders:) They're local too. And speaking of swap, is anything formal planned to wheel and deal ?

    Hi all,

We will have a Vendors Midway, we will announce the attending vendors as they sign on.

We will have a dedicated swap meet area.

We will have a Registration/Hospitality tent for attendee's.

We will be racing all day Friday, and prolly Friday night will be a Gamblers Race.

We will be having the Car Show from 9-3 on Saturday, awards at 4pm.

Duane Heckmans Restoration Seminar will be from 1:30 to 3:30 on Saturday, with additional 30 minutes for Q & A.

We will have a lane call at 5pm Saturday, and racing will commence at approx 5:30. Heads Up class qualifying will take place on Saturday night, under the lights.

    Non-BPG members can participate.

All race and show entry's must be Buick body and Buick power. The only exception to this may be a Street Rod/Conversion show class.

Sunday will be elimination's day, with 2 time runs in the morning, then eliminations begin shortly after noon. Race awards will follow the final round.

We are going to try and work in some track time on Thursday afternoon, exact times will be announced later on, prolly 12 to 5pm.

We will allow motorhome camping onsite, not sure if tent camping will be allowed though. There is a campground close to the track for those deciding on that venue. All motorhome campers will have specific arm bands for I.D., and you WILL be locked in from 10pm to 7am every night. Those camping inside will have to buy full 3 day weekend attendance passes.

There will be NO event registration fee's.

Above all, we want to make this a laid back, wonderful, and fun atmosphere for Buick enthusiasts nationwide. We realize we will be having cars from the west coast ,as well as Canada, and way down south too.

This is OUR national event, so let's all work together to make it the very best that we can.

  14. Jim, regarding the Buick bodied/Buick powered comment? There's no exception for non-Buick bodied cars that came from the factory with a Buick under the hood?

bonneville's, grand prix's, monte carlo's and impala's come with the buick 3800 in them.. there are many and i mean MANY grand prix GTP's running 13's and 12's in the quarter.. including some 11 second cars... i'd LOVE to see a few of these there... if you wanna know who to contact to maybe get them there.. let me know and i'll point you to them..

i've already talked to dr. speed and he says he really wants to come if time permits.. he's a definite 12 second regal... i'm not positive but he might be 11's now..

there's also the intense grand prix.. i think its intense.. they've got a turbo powered 3800 that runs 10's

  17. 89 TTA?

I only ask because I thought I remembered reading some time ago about this topic, but that such cars would be ok. I don't recall if it was on here or the BPG board. I have no personal interest in this regard, just posing the question.

i definately agree here.. the TTA should be allowed in.. and i don't know.. i'd honestly allow buick powered 3800 cars in.. uh.. you might limit them to racing only and not the car show? i don't know.. up to you guys.. i seriously think some of you older guys might find it incredibly cool to see what we (the younger generation) are doing to the tech of today with buick powered cars.. :) like i said above.. we have some fast cars.. if you want contact information.. i'm working on getting a definitive list if you want to allow them in.. maybe just the vender cars or 12 second or faster? i don't know.. something to discuss...

    racing classes

Will there be certain classes for racing... I believe TSM is having a race there. If so, do you have a list of classes yet?

    Thanks,
    ANDY

    well..

We definately do not want Impala's, Monte Carlo's and Bonneville's...

However, the TTA has been a mainstay with quite a few events, so I don't see a problem there.

I have spoken to the TSM organizers and they have indicated the TSM series will run here for points. I have also spoken to the Turbo Outlaw players and they have indicated they will come too. These are the baddest of the baddest, Turbo Regal/GN street cars anywhere.

I have seen FWD classes at other events, including my Bristol event, and they just didn't flourish as we had hoped. Neat fast cars, but when it came time for classes signup, we had, maybe, 5 or 6 show up. I can't run a class that small.

In the future, so we don't get lost in questions, PLEASE use the BPG board for questions, as we don't want to get inquire's lost in the V8 topics.

    Hope this helps.
