What happened to these pistons?

    out of a 455 I picked up. Bored .030 with stock type pistons. Just scuffed up bad or what? Lot of crazy stuff on this engine, back plug in block at end of cam was loose and covered with a tube of rtv.

    Wth,..never seen that, they are machined in that direction but still kinda weird pattern

    never seen that either looks like someone sanded on then or something

    I tried to get a pic of the cylinder, not very clear. The bore at the bottom sides of cylinder had no cross hatch or other marks. Basically just smooth.

    Never seen scuff marks in that direction before, almost like they were spinning:rolleyes: LOL, that's impossible tho, weird for sure!

    You can mark them up pretty badly if they are installed improperly. Picture them rocking into the bore as you whack the high side with a hammer. It would be quite an accomplishment in stupidity to do it that badly though...

    The motor was overheated.
