3.23 ratio, standard on '70 GS 350. Two letter stamp on underside of LH axle tube will confirm it as an original 8.2" rear. LC will indicate open rear while LP indicates posi. traction.
1382743 may be a casting number? Does not appear in my parts book from '81.

    Thanks Steve,
I can't find any stampins on the axle tubes. I got that number off the ring gear.

GM 3.23 & 2.56 8.5 gearsets have the machined groove on the side of the ring gear.
Appears you have a 3.23 8.5 gearset in your rear.
On the pinion flange, does th rear have 7/16" headed bolts & straps???

    Got Posi?

Roger that is a 8.2 gear it has 3/8 right hand thread bolts check the picture. Jim

Jim, I'm 99% certain the 3.23's in above pic are not '64-69 Pontiac 8.2 gears. Have sold four sets of Pontiac 8.2 3.23's over the last few years, will have go back through shipping invoices for their gear numbers.

Shame we don't have a casting number on the above rearends center housing or a pic of the pinion flange. That would help immensely.

    Got Posi?

Looks like an 8.2 pinion flange to me. I don't see any threads. Chris, doesn't the pinion flange have u bolts and 1/2" nuts. No squared off lugs on the bottom of the housing also.

Pic of the open center housing gives the impression that LH bearing cap is the version used on '68-70 BUICK 8.2 rears. This LH bearing cap is slightly longer bolt to bolt centers, in order to accept the larger lh carrier bearing race used in '68-70 BUICK 8.2 10 bolts.

From that, it appears the rear is a '70 BUICK 8.2 singletrack rear, prob the one original to your '70 GS 350.
