Dan,I didn't realized that you were flaming the car, that will automatically move it from the cruiser to the bruiser category :Brow: :3gears: .
Nice, Dan, very nice. I was looking at your progress pics in another thread over the weekend. Boy, it's come a long way since you were starting to hand quarters! :TU:
Glad youns like it. Its by no means perfect. But I decided to go with this scheme to git'er on the road. Someday, I'll have it painted correctly....you know, evey nut and bolt. But for now, this is the look for the next 5 years or so. On an interseting note, I used the cars original Cameo Creme for the yellow part of the flames. Look for me next summer!!!! :3gears:
I'm wondering what paint process you went through. How many coats of the black did you use? What brand/type of paint was the black. That matte black look is what I would like. Was it fairly reasonable in price?
I'll have to look at the receipts to get a breakdown of what cost's what. The flat black is a primer. Its like DP90, but a cheaper version. I think every paint has a lesser expensive version. I have about $700 in materials in it, plus what the bodyman charged for labor and use of their facillitys. It was a mixed effort of my doing what I could, and him doing the rest, which was the bulk of the work.
That's Awesome!!! I wish I'd get mine to some sort of uniform color already... More pics? (I love pics...they're inspiring) :TU:
Very nice Dan! I guess that with a paint like that, you'll often be asked to demonstrate the power of your Wildcat on traffic lights! :3gears:
where did you get that small painters tape. ive been looking everywhere! i came up with two types of stripe designs for my 69 wildcat, both of which are taped onto the car, all i need it the 1/4" painters tape to make the pin stripe and im painting it!
Rats! A primered rat rod that runs is a lot of fun. And flames are scientifically proven to make it go faster. Can always repaint it later...
Thats the plan. Go "Rat" for a few years, then get it painted right. The small painters tape comes from a local store here called Automotive Paint Specialties. Check your auto paint supply stores. No more pics right now since I haven't seen it for a few days. Its out getting a new top installed!! :TU: Demonstrate Wildcat power? I can do that :3gears:
