What is proper color for dipstick and tube?

What color should the dipstick handle and tube be on a 455?? Thanks Ron

 

I believe both were unpainted from the factory....natural finish...you may want to clear coat them.

I will take it one step further and guess they were gray phospahte plated. I have had several that had a gray appearanc. Cast Iron gray paint does a nice imitation. That is how I am doing mine. Many guy paint them red but it looks like they were installed on the assembly line per assembly manual so the engine would have been painted red first.. Just a hunch
