I just picked up what was supposed to be a narrow(64-67) 12 bolt rear.
Well it isn't, it's coded Aug 68, in short the wide 68-72 rear. 3.08 open.
It's complete drum to drum, and I have a 3 series Positraction carrier for it.
Looking for a reasonable price to ask for it?

I also have a line on a 69 Camaro 12 bolt Posi, complete rear, but completely disasembled. What's this rear worth?

    Thanks gang :TU:

As usual, it can depend on codes. Open 12 bolts go in the $500 range. Depending on codes, dates, and if they are rebuilt or not, can take them to the $1200 to $2000 range. Whats the code on the axle tube on both these bums????

Codes are important...posi carriers add a little value also, though, but price will depend on which "series" of carrier it is, as that will determine your ratio possibilities...Pete's ballpark figures are pretty close, as the later Chevelle and Nova/Camaro rears were pretty plentiful, and you can find complete open rears drum-to-drum for $500 just about all day...the early Chevelle & Nova rears are a lot harder to find.

I have $750 in my latest 12 bolt Chevy 3.90 posi (stock posi unit). Axle is really pitted bad, but cleaned up. Came from a Monte Carlo (I was told). I have about $1200 in each of the other 12 bolt Chevy axles (4.56 Moroso brute strength, and 4.10 Richmond and are all new inside and in show condition. I don't think either has rare numbers on it. (both were from highway ratio non posis).

My 2 Olds 12 bolts are both big $$$ axles with all the correct numbes etc. and are mint also. I don't race with them as parts are extremely rare (especially for the 68 with the huge axle shafts). Probably OK with an automatic, but both of the cars are 4 speeds. Wouldn't part with either since they each came in one of my cars. I've seen these go for $1500 on up in this condition. Sold a really rough 4.33 posi from another 68 Ramrod few years ago for $850. Correct numbers, though.

Tom, After Stanton I'm swapping the rear end out of my GTO. It's a factory 1970 Chevelle 3.73 posi. And plan on putting the orignal rear back in the goat because this will be the last year for that car  I thought the Chevelle rearend would bring somewhere around 1200.00. I paided 125.00 for the rearend.....................................in 1987.

I could use some GM part number's

Does anyone have the GM #'s to identify a factory GM(looks like Eaton) Posi unit??
The Positraction unit I have I believe is the 3.36,3.55.3.73 carrier :Do No: I would need a part number to verify.

I'll also try to get the two letter code off the axle tube's.

As of right now, I'm going to throw the price of $400 out there for the "A" body rear, and probably $1000 for the "F" body rear apart, more if I assemble it.

    Thanks for all the input,
    Tom
