Is the M & H 275/60R15 drag radial the widest tire I can use on my 72 Buick GS without modifications? If I use these tires on my factory 15x8 Rally wheels, will they work or what backspacing will I need? Thanks!

I have 275/60R15 tires on my 70 car on Wheel Vintique 15x8 wheels. That fits fine, never rubbed but your mileage may vary if things are exactly centered frame and body.

I've also run 255/70R15 tires on 15x7 factory Buick chrome wheels.

    We have run 12.5 x 28 x 15 MT sportsman pros on 8" wheels on our 72.

Thanks for the help Greg and Mark, do you know what back spacing you used?

Send a PM to Underdog350, he'll hook you up. I had the same question on my wife's 71 GS and he got me straightened out.

I think on the 8" rim it was 4.5 backspace. 10" rim now on car with 5.5".
Every car is different, so what fits on one may not fit on another. Same tires/wheels on our 70 and we had to notch the frame.

It wasn't mentioned that you only wanted responses for drag radials so, I'll tell you about my rear combo. I have the 15 x 8 rallyes with 4 7/8 back spacing and I've installed the BFG Radial TAs on them in 295/50 x 15 size. They fit fine with lots of room inside and out. I do have to lower the tire pressure to about 28 to get a good rubber patch because of the width of the tire vs. the width of the rim. But, they look and ride great. I like looking at the car from the side and having both front and rear tires with the same diameter. (about 27 in.) The fronts are 245/60 x 15.
