As far as the body goes I'm going to put all the chrome and stainless back on and the interior will be stock also. I'm planning to put air bags on it and make kind of an old school cruiser out of it with www, chrome steel wheels, lake pipes, etc..... Your right though Don it does look like a 57, but theres always 5 or 6 57 at every show I go to I never see many if any buicks. And the chrome goes on and on.....................................Gary

My 1950 Buick Super Model 52

Hi, glad to be here. I purchased a 1950 Buick Super model 52. The lady I bought it from did a frame off restoration on it. She was only the second owner and the original owner had it for 44 years. She had it for 11 years, and I've had it for 3 months. It is in heated storage until April 2005. The original owner was from Kenton, Ohio and I live in Wickliffe , Ohio. I have the original plates that were titled to the car when it was bought new in November of 1949. It has a Buick Fireball dynaflash straight 8 (valves in head), and a dynaflow transmission. All restoration was done to original specs except for the hoses, which were braided. The cars runs and drives excellant but I have to do a few things, like get the front end checked out because at high speed when you hit a bump it shimmy's bad and it also has irregular front tire wear. I was told that I might just need an alighnment or maybe it needs fluid in the lever action shocks. Also I have a new speedometer cable to put in and the speedometer needle came off. I have to figure out how to remove the face of the speedometer so I can put it back on......any suggestions? This car is the car I always wanted and I still can't believe that I have it. Can't wait for Spring to get here.

    55 Buick

This is my ride, 55 Buick Riviera with the 322 Nailhead and dynaflow tranny. Future plans include, a mild cam, 3x2 setup, red engine paint(maybe), finned engine goodies, dual exhaust, lakeside pipes, bags, when I can afford...some real www, shaved door handles, nosed, decked, black suede for now and later maybe a black and white color combo, disc brakes, chevy 700r4 tranny, chevy rear end and drive shaft. Right now I'm running some porta white and I just took off the cherry bomb glass pack because it wasn't loud enough for me, so I got it straight piped :Brow: Well at least those are some things that I can think of right now.

    Hey 58Sled,

Very nice car...i like sounds of where you're heading with it too. Keep us posted on your progress and post more pix when you get some time.

    55BuickSuper,

Your 55 is in great shape. I'm jealous of the 322, my 55 special has a 264 in it which runs fine but I'd love a little more power. I'll bet the straight pipes wake the dead. I've got glasspacks on now and I have to be honest when I say I feel a little guilty for the noise when I fire it up each morning. I imagine my neighbors cursing me. Oh well here's what I say to them....:moonu:
Send some more photos when you have time.

Thanks for the compliment moto, love your ride too...wish I had mine looking like your's.....how did you get it to sit low? Heated springs? Yeah, the neighbors where getting pissed off that I'd come in late at night rumbling in so I took the glass pack off since I guess I'm going sorta a deaf and straight piped it.... , it's a lot nicer sounding especially when I turn it on and have the manual choke set since it runs at a higher rpm until it warms up.......talk about them now really being pissed off at me......hahaha, they should feel luck I don't start up my 41 Chevy that has a straight 6 with split manifold and dual cherry bomb glass packs......that is one sick sounding ride. :pp ........P.S. by the way, the 41 is for sale to fund my 47 Chevy Fleetline, $5000 obo it's 20 miles east of Nashville, TN if anyone is intrested.

Yea I just hot wrenched the coils...i've been catchin hell from my pops about it too...says I shoulda taken the time to actually clip the coil..yadda yadda yadda.

Of course he's right but this is only temporary until I bag it....I know he's heated many a coil in his day so he can't knock me too hard about it. Besides it still rides nice.

    Coils

Yea, I figured that is what you had done. I had a 72 Impala that I did that too, but when I did it I had the regular size tires/wheels on it, then I went and put some 13x7 wire wheels on it and talk about laying frame  , I had to go buy some springs off a cadillac some dude had that was parting out, I eventually scraped a hole in the oil pan because it used to scrape whenever I'd hit a bump on the road, you should have seen the people scramble to get away from my car when they'd see sparks flying while I cruised the freeway back in Los Angeles.....hahaha, I remember I had just come back from Marine boot camp back in the day and my buddies and I were dressed in our Marine blues cruising in this impala, this lady pulls up to me at a red light and tells me "excuse me sir, but did you know you have sparks flying from under your car near you gas tank" I was like yea I know, thanks. hahaha, those were the days I tell you.

Nice Buick man, the torque tube would make it difficult to put in a new transmission. Do you have any other pictures of it?

    Yup

Yeah I have some more pics of the buick, but I don't know how to resize it so that it will fit on here. I've heard that they make adapter if you don't want to change out the rear end and be able to use and open drive shaft. I was just gonna plan on changing the whole thing from 700r4 back, open drive shaft and either a chevelle, malibu, camaro rear end. :pp
