Hi There I have a 64 wildcat with the rearend stamped 44.Was this a dana rear end? Does anyone know if different gear ratio's are available aftermarket.
should be a gm 9-3/8 no carriers or gears are available oem or aftermarket. all you can get is used stuff, and the carriers are different for 3.23 and below and above 3.23. my guess is you have a 3.44 if the bottom of the rear end housing says 44
No 3.44 ratio was offered that year. Around that time Dana and Eaton made rears for Buick. They did make a 4.45 in 64 but I doubt that is what you have. You would not want to take it on any road trips if that is what you had. If you take the cover off you usually will see the ratio code stamped on the ring gear.
