I'm building a 455 buick... 1974 Block,.030 overbore, new forged steele pistons(not flattops,)some dish yet, chromeolly rings, Stage one Heads,(large Valves), 110deg. cam,(torquemaster from Compcams) 790 or 800 CFM Rochester Quadrojet. All emissions , AC etc removed. Stock crank, been polished tho. .. Just curious, what kinda compression is stock, or what kinda compression might I have when Done/? some one said 9.5:1, Does this seem right?

Stock was probably 8:1 since 74 was a smogger year.

Alot of variables here..... thickness of head gasket, what cc of heads, are you having the block decked? Also what is the cc of the dish in the piston?

Stock 74 455s had 8.5:1 compression if that helps.
