dose anybody know what they came with 8.5? 8.2? my 70 gs 455?all big block chevelles came with a 12 bolt. wouldent a big block buick have a beefer rearend also. I know gm started puting 8.5 in 71 but being a bbb 70 is it a better rear than a 8.2? im getting a 72 parts car that should have an 8.5 so if i have an 8.2 im swaping it out. im also planing on swaping out the disc and front arms. if the bushings are good. any tips on where i could find a posi? and gears cheep free or on a trade.:beers2: i heard alot of cars and trucks at the bone yard had posi and gears that will fit the 8.5 is that true? anybody have a list of what to look for?:eek2:

Non stage 1 auto trans GS 455 car in 70 was a default 2.93 ratio as I recall. Confirm my memory plus it could have an optional raatio or it could have beem changed along the way. Reomve the cover and look on the side of the ring gear for the numbers that indicate the ratio.
thanks one thing when i jack up the rear it spins both tires and when i try to hold the driver side tire i cant? it wants to spino No: do you think it could be worn out the slon musem said my car came with some kind of tow package? what was that?
