    Whew! That was close! :Dou:

Brian - you had me reaching for my wallet til I saw it had the dreaded small block Chevy in it...

We actually had two of these. We had a '63 Tempest coupe, which was a racecar and which was willed to a friend when Dad passed in November.

Mom kept the convertible, which is a LeMans.

They are hard for me to resist...

Love those old highboy cars. Now you're talking Brian! Build one. You can do it.

    Keith:

I believe those cars were unibody, weren't they? What had to be done to the floor pans, etc. to keep from turning into a pretzel with that torque? This one says it's converted to a full frame, that can't be light.

I recall all the extra braces, etc. we put in my old Valiant when we chopped out the inner front fenders and floor (and part of the cowl) to get the 383 drivetrain in it. First problem was the doors wouldn't open, second problem was when you push in the clutch the cowl moved forward, but the clutch didn't disengage. Never solved the third problem before i sold it which was the tendency to change lanes randomly whenever it felt like it. Really needed the solid axle. But it did weigh 2900# (3070 with me in it.......back then. )

10-4 on the Chevy engine. Don't kow why anyone would do something like that. :puzzled:

They are unibody and they have the funky "rope" driveshaft with the converter and trans in the rear (swing arm rear suspension).

First step is to put a cage in it and then hang a solid rear axle in the back. After that they do pretty well... :Smarty:

    Ok, so 3070 minus 2900 = ....

Huh? What you talkin' bout Willis????

"The emblems were removed to add mystery as to what kind of car this is"

Sounds like something a guilty feeling chevy guy would say about a Pontiac that he butchered :Dou: :Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

Ton's of rotten junk pile Shovelle's out there to hack up, but no let's screw-up somethin' nice!

Dual quad 421, or an old tri-power 389, heck even a newer 455 dressed up with vintage 60's stuff would have been much, much neater.
Now you have a bastard-ized Pontiac with a Chevy motor, wow that took some thinking to come up with that combo  The Chevy guy's don't want it because even "without emblem's" it's still a Pontiac, and the Pontiac guy's don't want it either, unless they have a fresh built Poncho motor ready to drop in, and a place to throw that small block(Lake, stream, river, canal?)

Neat car with the hood closed :Smarty: :TU: :3gears:

    Already have done it.

Looks like the full frame is frame connectors. I know in Gas class when the shift from the Willys to later body styles happened most folks put the later body over a Willys frame.

As far as the Chevy engine.........after you swap it for whatever you want you have something to sell! :beer

The only guys who would want it are the Chevy/Pontiac "half breeds" like myself, who have an affinity for '63 Tempests...

You're right - seems like a pretty limited audience...

Would the Chevy people be just as anal if we put an Olds or Pontiac motor in a Nova or a Chevelle or OMIGOD! a Corvette?

I did have a 65 V100 2 door like this for a short while. Bought it at my rehearsal dinner for $30. Fiance of the maid of honor burned up the original six (170?) trying to race to the rehearsal dinner on time. Was so pissed off he told me he was going to junk it and I could have it for $30. Nice low mileage car, 3 on the tree, no options except radio and heater, all new tires and exhaust. Bought a wrecked low mileage 64 wagon with a 225 six for $65 and transplanted the motor. Voila. Nice clean, good running 3 year old car for under $100. Sold it to my brother Rick for $300 (still a steal at the time). He totally trashed it in 1 year. Asshole. :Dou: :Dou:

Nope. No more projects. Just wrapping up some minor details on the 66 to get it read for the trip to Body shop for final trim moldings, etc. then on to New Hampshire. First one I didn't finish. :Do No:

Never thought I'd say it, but I hate working on cars now. Have been doing it obsessively for over 50 years. Time to wrap it up. :bglasses:
