What Product to use between the outer hood metal and the inner skin

So after 50 years of engine heat, solar damage, and vibration, What do you like to use to supplement the dried up remnants of the (goop/ caulking )the factory put there when they assembled it? Working on a 69 GS hood and would like to reconnect the upper skin with the inner hood panel and reduce hood flex . The hood is already painted so not trying to create a lot of heat with the product used. Thank you for any suggestions of product you have used. Tony

I don't remember the color. It might have been a light tan ish. Or rainbow striped.
