I have a 67 Special Wagon....what rears did they offer in them/what is probably in there... I have positraction, does anyone know what the gear ratio is or how I could find out? Thanks
Hmm. We got the car with a th350 in it... but there was originally a 2speed in there at first. How would I find out the series #? I think i'm gonna do the rear end this weekend...just replace the gasket and fluid since it's leaky. How many different gears did they make?
Need to know bodystyle on cowl tag. How many bolts on rear cover, how many holding ring gear to the carrier? :3gears: Roger
Thats a Buick A body wagon. should have a 8.2 in it. i know the sportwagons came standard with 3.23 ratio, not sure what the specials came with standard. Bob
I just gave a call to Moser and they said they didn't do rears for A-body wagons, any idea why? thanks,
The only way to definitively find out what ratio is in any A-Body or Wagon is to crawl under the car, wire brush the bottom of the driver side tube and see what 2 letters are stamped there. Then scroll down and use the chart to see what you have.. The charts are marked by year. Atlanta Buick.com Good Luck. :TU: BB
Not what ratio, they don't make a bolt in housing. Is there something different about the rearend out of a wagon?
I believe the original question in this thread was what ratio is his rearend. As to difference there is none between A-bodies and wagons. They are the same rear. And in 67 the only available size I believe was the 8.2 10 bolt in an American made car and the 8 7/8 12 bolt rear in a Canadian made car. :TU:
there is no physical difference in a wagon rear vs a skylark rear except for the bearings. they will bolt right up. the guy you spoke to doesnt know what he is talking about if he says they make a housing for a skylark but not an A body wagon. i would guess that they only make 2 styles of housings for all a bodies.. 64-67 width and 68-72 width.
