Can anyone tell me what rear end would be in a car I've located:

    1969 LeSabre 400, 2 door HT w/ 350 - 4V?

I'm looking for a 9 3/8 set up, does this car have one? I don't want to crawl under this thing if there's no chance...

    Also - Maybe a TH400 I could use as a spare?

    Paul,
I resent a PM to you about a local '69 we talked about. Did you receive it?

Sorry Steve, your last PM got by me. I just checked and it's there.

So, you're not going to get that car, no 455 for your future engine? Do you have any idea what rear end was in it? It sounds like the same car I just found today in someone's field.

say what? all of the Le Sabre's for 69 had 350's (according to my book). are you saying you're looking at a GS400 that's had a 4v 350 transplanted or are you saying this 350 is stock?

if the engine is stock i have a hard time believing you aren't going to find a TH350 and 8.5" rear in it...

    The LeSabre 400 was factory equipped with a 350 4V. "400" was the model, not the engine. A regular LeSabre had a 350 2V and a TH350. A 400 had a higher compression 350 4V and a TH400.

    Paul,
The car is basically old paint holding together all the rust. Frame is on the ground, wheels have settled that much. Have to lift the car up or excavate to see the rear.
Not much frame there to put a jack under.
Surprised about Dan's post regarding the hi-comp 350 & TH400 trans.. This car is a '69 LeSabre 400, 4dr. hardtop. Engine & trans. still there.
Might just go back & offer him a few dollars for the wreck. I'm a bit hesitant as I expect the differential cover, the oil pan & the trans oil pan to be long rusted away.

Steve: let me know if you get the car. Maybe there's something left on it that is still usable.

    Dan:

What rear will be in the car I found locally? No one answered my question!

Also - do you still have the 3.08 rear-end? Can I use the housing and search for a posi unit for a rear I want to build?

    1969 LeSabre 400 rear is:

    Standard = 2.93

    Performance option = 3.23

    Economy option = 2.73

Read the code on the axle housing upper paasenger side just outboard of the hogs head and I can tell you how it was equipped originally.

I am assuming it was US built --not Canada. Therefore, it is a BUICK (Not BOP) 10 bolt, 8.2 inch of the type that was the same from 68-70. It is not a 9 3/8" because it is a LeSabre which is a 5000 series car.
