    Get the corporate 71-2 Cutlass/Skylark 8.5" rear.
Then you can build it economically to suit your needs. See the article
I have on our site about the 8.5" posi units.

Hi George - how does the 8.5 compare to the original 67 special in width?

65-7 axles are 1" narrower than the 71-2 versions. So....not really a big deal unless you are trying to fit some fat tires on the back.

Don't forget you need to cut the drive shaft too. and may need a different u-joint. Jim

never did get a dafinitive answer on this so fingured id bring the old post up rather than start a new one. so i still need to find some rear end that has the stuff i need with out modifacation. i want to find some thing that is easy to find and that might have low miles as to avoid rebuilding it.

You won't find anything with low miles being 35+ years old now.

Get the 71-2 corporate 8.5" like I stated and have it built. If you are going to keep the car, spend the money...well worth it in the long run.
